IS THIS THE FIRST TIME FOR THIS CELEBRATION? CAN YOU CALL THIS DAY A CELEBRATION? BUT, IT IS A GOOD REASON TO GET TOGETHER AND ENJOY LIFE. I WAS BORN ON FEBRUARY 24TH, 1942 AT SAN PEDRO HOSPITAL. I ONLY REMEMBER WHAT MY MOTHER SAID AND BOY WAS SHE FURIOUS THAT SHE COULD NOT HAVE HER NEW BORN SON WITH HER DURING THE BLACK-OUT AND ALL THOSE BIG GUNS GOING OFF. SHE THREW OUT THOSE FOUR LETTER WORDS TO THE NURSE'S BUT THEY WOULDN'T GIVE ME TO HER. I HAD TO STAY IN THE NURSERY. SHE WAS REALLY UPSET. MY DAD WAS WITH HIS FRIENDS AT A LOCAL BAR CELBRATING HIS FIRST CHILD, A SON. HE DID NOT REMEMBER TOO MUCH ABOUT ALL THE NOISE AND BLACK OUT. I HAVE THE NEWSPAPER FOR THAT DAY AND NOT MUCH WAS SAID ABOUT THAT DAY AFTER THE INCIDENT, BUT MY FAMILY REMEMBERS. MY HEART IS STILL IN SAN PEDRO AND TAKE EVERY OCCATION TO CELEBRATE. MY WIFE WAS BORN ON THE 4TH OF JULY WITH ALL THOSE FIREWORKS GOING OFF AND I WAS BORN ON THE 24TH OF FEBRUARY WITH ALL THE FIREWORKS GOING OFF AT FORT MacARTHUR . HAPPY CELEBRATIOMN - MIKE PESUTICH

The fact that the San Pedro Visitor's Bureau was able to work to bring the Iowa vets to San Pedro after they were committed to Long Beach is awesome. This is a great example of San Pedro Exceptionalism, and what gives Pedro its pride. Great job!!

Are we really sure that there are not enough rooms or that no one is looking to stay in San Pedro? The government already highlighted it as a drug area. And when you get to boast the Travel Lodge and other low end hotels/motels there is not much of a draw to stay in San Pedro. We do have a couple of higher end hotels with the Sheraton and the Double Tree, but the Double Tree is not within walking distance to anything.
